There are three companies in Cyprus offering various packages for home and business usage. They are

CYTA PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

CYTA (Cyprus Telecommunications Authority) is an independent, government-owned company. CYTA provides services and products for personal and business usage (includes small business). CYTA offers the following products and services:

  • Mobile Phones (Monthly payment Contracts or Pay-as-you-go options)
  • Landlines,
  • Public Telephones
  • Data and Telegraph transmission
  • Maritime transmission
  • TV transmission and reception
  • Private leased circuits,
  • Audio text,
  • Video conferencing,
  • ISDN, DSL, Internet and
  • ATM / Frame Relay.

Public Telephones

CYTA public phones are in all towns, villages, ports and airports. There are three types of public telephones coinphones, outdoor cardphones and indoor cardphones. All public phones can be used for local and international calls.

Cardphones accept payment by Telecards, which are available in various denominations. They can be purchased at banks, post offices, souvenir shops, kiosks and CytaShops.

PRIMETEL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

PrimeTel also provides services and products for personal and business usage (includes small business). PrimeTel offers the following products and services:

  • Landline telephones,
  • Internet (ADSL2 and Broadband),
  • Free-to-Air TV,
  • Digital TV,
  • VOD (Video on Demand) and
  • Pre-paid Talk plans

MTN

MTN provides mobile broadband services for mobile cellular phones, BlackBerrys and other 3G devices. For more detailed information on products and services, visit the  MTN website or your nearest local Customer Service Office.

 

NOTE – There are no roaming agreements with the northern part of Cyprus; Cyprus mobile phones do not work there, irrespective if you are with CYTA or MTN, however a cellular handset from another country works on both sides of the island.
